CENTREPOINT ALLIANCE LIMITED – CORPORATE HISTORY

The Company was founded in 1991 by Martin Kane under the name of Alliance Finance Corporation Limited. It specialised in insurance premium funding and equipment finance and was based in Western Australia.

The business grew rapidly and established a national footprint and in June 2002 was listed on the Australian Securities Exchange.

On 30 September 2005, the Company merged with the Centrepoint Finance Pty Ltd Group, of which Rick Nelson was a co-founder, and changed its name to Centrepoint Alliance Limited. Centrepoint Finance Group specialised in finance broking, asset finance and insurance premium funding.

During financial year 2009, primarily as a result of the effects of the Global Financial Crisis, the Group exited its commercial finance activities through the sales of its finance broking businesses and one of its two equipment finance operations (the other also ceased operations and was wound down).

On 13 December 2010 the Company acquired 100% of the Professional Investment Holdings Limited Group of companies through a scheme of arrangement. PIH owns Professional Investment Services (PIS), which is one of Australia’s leading providers of financial advice and product solutions, which are distributed through one of the largest non institutionally-owned financial advice networks in Australia. The PIH Group also encompasses funds management operations, administration platform services and lending & financing services. The PIH Group also holds investments in related operations in New Zealand, Singapore and Malaysia.
